Tomorrow marks the 8 year anniversary of starting my first job at Texas Roadhouse. One of my biggest personality traits is that I worked there off and on for about four years. It was my first job. It was a fun job. I’m glad I had that job. I met so many terrific people. I got to work at two different locations. I gained many skills along the way. I’m very grateful for the time I spent working there. Most of it was just work but there were some fun memories I made that I’d like to share.
- I got to be Andy the Armadillo several times. That suit was so obnoxious, but it was such a blast getting to play a character. Plus, I didn’t have to talk to anyone while wearing it!
- When moving to Nevada, I was unsure of where to begin with a new job. Luckily, the folks at the Reno Roadhouse welcomed me with open arms. I made new friends there I keep so dear to my heart.
- My awesome friend, and roommate at the time, Kristen and her kids joined me at my interview at the Reno Roadhouse. I was super nervous. Their joy and laughter helped me get through it!
- Getting to dance was such a fun way to break up a shift. Even if it was a rough day, focusing on some steps for like 90 seconds was a good distraction.
- I still get to keep in touch with my chosen mom, Amanda. We are living our own busy lives right now, but we are always there for each other and I’m so grateful for our friendship. We even got matching tattoos.
As some of you may heard, the Texas Roadhouse in Scarborough caught fire on January 25th. I felt conflicted that day. On one hand, I had some of my toughest days in that building. But it felt like a piece of me fell out. I created some eternal bonds there. I learned some excellent skills and gained more compassion. My dancing skills are always with me.
Here are a few photos to commemorate my time there.
